My daughter had her Leaving Cert French oral back in April and came home saying she thought it went really well and even enjoyed it a bit. She could not have said that a year ago. The nerves around speaking French were genuinely serious before Daresne. Her tutor did practice orals every single session for the last four months. She was so prepared that the real thing felt easy by comparison.

Computer science theory paper has been his weak point all year. His tutor sent notes after every session with what they had covered and what to work on before the next one. That accountability structure made a real difference - he actually prepared between sessions for the first time. He said the theory paper felt much more manageable than he expected. Given where he started that is remarkable.
My daughter sat her A level psychology papers this week. She said the essay questions were exactly the type she had been practicing with her tutor. What really helped was her tutor explaining what AO1, AO2 and AO3 marks actually look like in a top band answer rather than just telling her to include them. She could see the difference in her own writing before she went in.

My son sat his GCSE English language paper last week. He told me he spent the whole reading time actually planning his answers before writing anything, which his tutor had been telling him to do for months. Had to try two tutors before finding one that worked for my son. First one was fine but not quite the right fit. Second has been much better and we are seeing real improvement in his GCSE maths now. Process of switching was a bit slow but the team sorted it in the end. Three stars for the experience overall but the tutor we have now is genuinely good.

My daughter sat her Junior Cert science yesterday and came out smiling which is not something I had seen before. Her Daresne tutor had been brilliant in the final weeks - she would send a brief message before each session with what they were going to cover and after with what to look at. Very organised. She said she recognised everything on the paper. That is what a year of good preparation looks like.
