Honest reviews from UK parents who chose Daresne for GCSE, A-Level and 11+ online tutoring. Every word posted exactly as written.
Been with Daresne nearly a year now. Daughter started yr12 really struggling with edexcel maths, getting Ds and stressing constantly. After maybe 6 or 7 weeks something shifted. Tutor explains things in a way that just clicks with her. Getting Bs now and got a C in her mock which we were so relieved about. Biology sessions going well too. Would recommend.
My son was really bad at Spanish honestly. Written work weak and he would freeze up in speaking practice. Tried a few things before Daresne. Tutor went through every past paper format with him properly and he is now predicted an A in all components. Still a bit shocked. He actually looks forward to sessions now which I never thought id be saying.
Will keep this short. Son got a U in his AS chem mock in October. Desperate. Started Daresne in November, two sessions a week. By Feb his teacher was predicting a B. I dont know what the tutor did differently to school but it worked. Online lessons which I was sceptical about but no issues at all.
My mum always does these so I wanted to write it myself because student reviews are probably more useful. Doing A level biology and chemistry. My tutor is really good, she doesnt just read stuff at you she actually explains why things work which makes it stick. I used to find biology boring and now its my favourite subject. Bit mad really. Worth it.
Two children using Daresne. One doing GCSE maths, other A level economics. Both are getting better. Economics tutor is particularly strong, uses real world examples rather than just the textbook which suits my son much better. Its not the cheapest option but the quality is there. Happy with it overall.
Daughter was really struggling to write analytical essays in history. Her school teacher actually commented unprompted that her work had improved since October. We started with Daresne in September. Tutor is excellent at helping her understand what examiners want and how to structure arguments properly.
The tutor himself has been excellent with my son for A level chemistry. Knowledgeable, patient and clearly experienced. The platform side of things could be smoother — booking and rescheduling is a bit clunky. Four stars for the experience overall, five for the tutor specifically.
Son doing A level physics and was really behind after some disruption at school. His Daresne tutor is clearly very knowledgeable and my son says he explains things better than his school teacher. Not something I thought I would hear but there it is. He is now on track for his target grade.
