Son needed biology chemistry and physics covered. I was worried about coordinating three people but Daresne made it easy. We do 16 sessions a month split across the three subjects. None of them cover the same ground twice. He is predicted 7s across the board. Better than I expected honestly.
We started in Year 9 on the two year plan because we could see chemistry was going to be the problem subject. She failed every mock in Year 9. Something shifted partway through Year 10. Her written explanations got much better according to her teacher. Predicted a 6 now. Her school were surprised. We were over the moon.
First two sessions felt a bit disorganised and I nearly cancelled. But from session three onwards it clicked and my daughter improved a lot in biology. Predicted a 6 now from a 3. Took a bit of patience to get going but the result speaks for itself.
Been with Daresne nearly a year now. Daughter started yr12 really struggling with edexcel maths, getting Ds and stressing constantly. After maybe 6 or 7 weeks something shifted. Tutor explains things in a way that just clicks with her. Getting Bs now and got a C in her mock which we were so relieved about. Biology sessions going well too. Would recommend.
My son still thinks a lot of physics is abstract. But something about his tutor made it feel worth engaging with. He started asking questions during sessions which he never does at school. Predicted grade went from a 4 to an 8. He has now listed it as one of his A level options. I would not have predicted that twelve months ago.
She just kept rereading the same pages and testing herself with the same questions. Her tutor taught her how to actually revise which sounds simple but her school had never really addressed it. Predicted grade went from a 4 to an 8 over about ten months. She now uses the same approach for all her subjects. Changed how she learns.
Will keep this short. Son got a U in his AS chem mock in October. Desperate. Started Daresne in November, two sessions a week. By Feb his teacher was predicting a B. I dont know what the tutor did differently to school but it worked. Online lessons which I was sceptical about but no issues at all.
Tutoring itself is fine, son is getting better at GCSE physics and tutor knows the subject well. My frustration is the admin side. Rescheduling was a faff and I sent an email that didnt get a reply for nearly 4 days. Not bad enough to leave but worth knowing. Teaching is solid though.
