My son was failing biology at the start of Year 11. We were genuinely worried about him getting any grade at all. His tutor was calm and non-judgemental and went back to the basics. Nine months later he is predicted a 7. The tutor made the content feel less overwhelming by breaking it into small manageable sections each session.
My daughter could regurgitate the theory but could not apply it to case studies. Business A level really penalises you for that. Her tutor worked on application specifically - how to take a real business scenario and analyse it properly. Her case study marks went up dramatically. She is now predicted an A where she was getting Cs.
Decent but not blown away. My son has improved a bit in GCSE biology and his tutor is knowledgeable. The sessions sometimes feel a bit slow paced for him though. We have mentioned this and it has got slightly better. Three stars for now but may revise upwards if things keep improving.

Ten out of ten. My son went from hating GCSE chemistry to actually doing extra reading around the subject. His tutor is brilliant.
Son chose GCSE Latin and was really struggling with the grammar and unseen translation. His tutor went back to basics with the declensions and verb patterns and built things back up from there. He is predicted a 7 having been getting 4s. Really glad we found the right tutor for it.
My daughter knew the psychology content but her exam answers were too descriptive. Her Daresne tutor worked on AO2 application and evaluation specifically. After six weeks her marks jumped by two grades almost immediately. Frustrating that school had not addressed this sooner.
Could not fault it. My son has gone from H5 to H2 in Leaving Cert maths and actually looks forward to his sessions now.
My son is doing Advanced Higher physics which requires a tutor with real subject depth. Daresne found someone doing a physics PhD who is very comfortable at that level. Sessions have been excellent and my son says he is learning things his school teacher has not covered. Predicted an A.
