My daughter chose to sit GCSE Welsh second language and was struggling with the oral and writing components. Her tutor was very familiar with the WJEC specification and the style of questions. She improved significantly across all components. Her predicted grade went from a 4 to a 7. Excellent tutor for a subject that is hard to find support for.
Son was a bit nervous about Year 6 SATs and we wanted to give extra support in maths. Tutor was really good at making preparation feel manageable and not stressful. He got over 100 in both maths papers which we were very happy with.
My daughter's Irish oral was causing real anxiety. She could read and write Irish fine but speaking it under pressure was a problem. Her tutor focused purely on oral preparation - structured practice conversations, vocabulary for different topics, handling unexpected questions. She not only passed the oral but got a high grade. We were genuinely surprised.
Five stars no question. Son loves his sessions and Leaving Cert physics has turned right around.
My son started sessions a year ago getting 4s in biology. He is now predicted an 8 and has put it down as one of his A level choices. The tutor made the subject come alive - not just teaching what to write in exams but why biology actually works the way it does. That curiosity made all the difference to the grades.
My daughter was struggling with both Higher maths and Higher physics. Two sessions a week per subject through Daresne and both have improved significantly. Maths went from a D to a B. Physics from a C to a B. The tutors are both clearly very familiar with the Scottish curriculum and that made a real difference.
My daughter has improved in Leaving Cert French but more slowly than I expected after reading some of these reviews. Her tutor is good and she likes her but I had hoped for more dramatic progress by now. We are five months in. Still continuing and hoping it picks up. Honest three stars for now.
My son wanted to drop GCSE economics after failing his first assessment. We talked him out of it and signed up to Daresne. His tutor focused on the extended answer and analysis questions he was failing. He ended up getting an 8. His school teacher said it was one of the best improvements she had seen.
