My daughter was terrified of the GCSE Spanish speaking component. Would freeze up completely in practice. Her tutor just kept drilling it in every session until it felt routine. She sat the actual speaking exam and came out saying it felt fine. Predicted an 8.
The quality of teaching has been really good for my daughter in Leaving Cert biology. My only hesitation is the cost which is not trivial on a tight budget. That said she has improved significantly and I think we will continue. Four stars because the value is there but it is a stretch for some families.
Italian GCSE is not commonly supported and her school has limited resources for it. Her Daresne tutor focused entirely on the exam components that were dragging her down — written and reading comprehension. She went from a 4 to a predicted 7 over about six months. The grade jump speaks for itself.

Son was struggling with macroeconomics, the abstract concepts like fiscal policy just were not making sense from the textbook. Tutor uses real world examples and current events to explain the theory which makes it stick. Went from failing to passing his unit assessments.
Daughter had real maths anxiety. Would get upset before school on maths test days and was convinced she was just bad at maths. Tutor was very patient and focused on rebuilding confidence before pushing on content. She now approaches maths with much more calm. Grades have improved too.
Son needed to retake A level chemistry after getting a D. Needed a C for his pharmacy degree course. Daresne tutor was brilliant and targeted the areas he had dropped marks in. He got a B in his retake and has now started his degree. So relieved.

Daughter got a D in her AS English and we were worried about her A level grade. Her Daresne tutor completely changed how she approaches unseen texts and essay structure.
