This confused everyone. She chats to my parents in Spanish daily. Her GCSE was a 5. The issue is GCSE Spanish has almost nothing to do with real communication. Her tutor worked that out quickly and retrained her to write for what the examiner wants. Predicted a 9 now. A bit mad but there we go.
Three weeks of Leaving Cert and it is finally over. We have been with Daresne through all of sixth year for maths and chemistry. She came out of both exams saying they felt manageable. For maths specifically her tutor had been doing paper 2 past questions exclusively in the final few weeks. We also had to reschedule two or three sessions during the year and it was always sorted quickly through the Daresne Chat. We find out in August.
Five stars. My daughter loves her sessions and Leaving Cert biology has improved enormously.
We had tried a local maths tutor for Leaving Cert chemistry first and it had not worked. Switched to Daresne. Did the trial. The tutor identified within the first session that it was problem-solving questions specifically causing the marks to drop. Targeted work on that and three months later she is getting H2s on papers she would have left half blank before. Really impressed.
Her tutor Sarah understood exactly what the Leaving Cert English paper requires and got my daughter writing properly for it within about three sessions. H5 to H2 in her school assessments. Very happy.
Spot on. GCSE physics has turned around completely. His tutor is brilliant with him.
My son still thinks a lot of physics is abstract. But something about his tutor made it feel worth engaging with. He started asking questions during sessions which he never does at school. Predicted grade went from a 4 to an 8. He has now listed it as one of his A level options. I would not have predicted that twelve months ago.
