Son is interested in history but his essays were a mess. He knew the content but could not structure an argument to save himself. His tutor worked on nothing but essay structure for the first three sessions. Went from Ds to Bs in his school assessments by Christmas. School teacher assumed he had retaken a module.
My son improved in English which is what we needed. The tutor is good. I am giving four rather than five because communication between sessions could be better — sometimes I was not sure what had been covered or what to expect next. That said the grades improved and that is what matters.
Son was getting As on the pure maths papers and failing the statistics. His tutor focused purely on statistics for the first two months which felt counterintuitive but worked. He now gets similar marks across all three papers. Predicted an A overall up from a C.
Son was a bit nervous about Year 6 SATs and we wanted to give extra support in maths. Tutor was really good at making preparation feel manageable and not stressful. He got over 100 in both maths papers which we were very happy with.
Daughter needed help with Higher maths and we were unsure if Daresne had tutors familiar with Scottish Highers. They did and found one very quickly. Tutor has been excellent and daughter has gone from struggling to passing her practice papers. Impressed with the quality.
Was unsure whether Daresne could help with Irish qualifications but the tutor they found knew the Junior Cert curriculum very well. Son has improved a lot and feels confident going into exams. Good option for Irish curriculum support.
Son passed Junior Cert maths. We are delighted.
Daughter chose psychology partly because she thought it would be easier than science A levels. It was not. The research methods and statistics elements were really difficult. Her tutor spent several sessions just on those components and they now make sense to her. Predicted a B up from a D.
