She just kept rereading the same pages and testing herself with the same questions. Her tutor taught her how to actually revise which sounds simple but her school had never really addressed it. Predicted grade went from a 4 to an 8 over about ten months. She now uses the same approach for all her subjects. Changed how she learns.
My son was scoring in the bottom quartile on practice papers when we started. Verbal reasoning was his biggest weakness. His tutor zeroed in on this immediately - taught him how to actually answer the question rather than just emptying his brain onto the page. Four months later his teacher was using his work as a class example. A 4 to a predicted 8. I was not expecting that. Eight sessions a month and completely worth it.

My son sat down for the first session with his arms crossed and I thought this is going nowhere. Twelve months later on 8 sessions a month he is predicted a 6 having started at a 3. He is actually nervous about results day in the good way. He wants to do well. That has never happened before with French. Whatever Amelie does it works.

My daughter chose Italian GCSE but found the writing and reading comprehension really difficult. Daresne found a native speaker tutor who knew the GCSE requirements. She improved enormously over about four months. Her predicted grade went from a borderline 4 to an 8.
A level art history is not common and I had low expectations of finding good support. Daresne found a tutor with an art history degree who knows the specification in detail. My daughter has gone from barely scraping Ds to being predicted a B. The tutor is really good at helping her write analytically about visual works, which was the specific gap.
