Good tutor but had some admin issues early on

Tutoring itself is fine, son is getting better at GCSE physics and tutor knows the subject well. My frustration is the admin side. Rescheduling was a faff and I sent an email that didnt get a reply for nearly 4 days. Not bad enough to leave but worth knowing. Teaching is solid though.

Tom, thanks for flagging this. Four days for an email is not good enough and we are sorry. We have made changes to how we handle messages. Glad the sessions are going well for your son. The Daresne Team

Italian GCSE - went from barely passing to a predicted 8

My daughter chose Italian GCSE but found the writing and reading comprehension really difficult. Daresne found a native speaker tutor who knew the GCSE requirements. She improved enormously over about four months. Her predicted grade went from a borderline 4 to an 8. The listening component which had been her worst area is now her strongest.

Wonderful experience

Wonderful experience with Daresne. My daughter had been really down about maths for a long time and her tutor has completely turned that around. She is smiling again. That is honestly enough for me, the grade is a bonus.

A level maths - went from a D to an A in under a year

My son was getting Ds in A level maths at the start of year 13. We were worried about his university places being at risk. His Daresne tutor was excellent - very systematic, identified exactly which topics were costing him marks and worked through them properly. He sat his mocks in February predicted an A. Genuinely could not have hoped for better.

Computer science coursework - went from a D to best in class

My daughter was really struggling with the NEA coursework component of GCSE computer science. The tutor spent four sessions specifically on the project structure and how to document it for the mark scheme. She handed it in and her teacher told us it was one of the best in the year.

GCSE French, written component went from a 3 to a 7

Son could speak French reasonably well but his written French was very poor. His tutor worked specifically on the writing tasks and how to structure them for the mark scheme. Three months later his predicted grade on the writing component has gone from a 3 to a 7.

The French A level oral went from her biggest fear to an A

Written French was fine. The oral was causing genuine anxiety, not just nerves. Her tutor built structured conversation practice into every session from the start. Mock oral came around and she said she felt less nervous than she had ever been before an exam. Got an A. First time that has happened. Nine months on twelve sessions a month.
